The Beartooth MT Ascent Ranch Therapy Program

Discover the "Code of The West" Alive and Well In Wyoming

Ranch Therapy at Beartooth Mt Ascent Ranch takes place on a historic family owned and operated working cattle ranch that takes a unique approach to therapy for young men who are struggling with substance abuse or other emotional behavioral problems. Our program offers many positive first time experiences so that the young men can learn to see themselves as they really are, and visualize themselves as they might become. We believe change comes from the inside and is not always externally motivated. We subscribe to the principles of the Code Of The West. Each young man is immersed in a culture known as " The Cowboys Code of Ethics". The young men at Beartooth Mt Ascent learn from the example of true Catholic Cowboys that, an Authentic Cowboy is true to his beliefs no matter what and that by living with integrity each one of us can make a difference

Cowboys are heroic — not just because they do all the hard work on a ranch (which is sometimes a dangerous job), but because they stand for something. Principles like honor, loyalty, responsibility, trustworthiness and courage are at the heart of the Cowboy Way.

Even though cowboy life has changed over the past 150 years, on our ranch the cowboys still honor and live by this code. At Beartooth Mt Ascent our “Cowboys” are a source of inspiration that reaches into the lives of struggling young men, and speaks to their heart desire to become a real man who stands up and has the courage to be different. At a time when heroes are in short supply, the cowboys at Beartooth Mt Ascent are the real deal.

Although the Code of the West was unwritten, every cowboy knew what it was.

The Ten Code of the West Principles are author Jim Owens’s distillation of the timeless, universal cowboy values that are still relevant to our lives today. They are at the heart of cowboy ethics and of Jim's book, "Cowboy Ethics: What Wall Street Can Learn from the Code of the West".

A Life Changing Experience for struggling young men, parents and the entire family.

Please note: Our program is located on a remote rural ranch in a back to basics, frontier style buildings without any frills. If you are looking for luxurious accommodations for your son in a resort like setting this is not the place to send him!

If you want your son to appreciate and not take for granted what has been provided for him by you, then our Ranch is the place to help him grow in appreciation and thanksgiving for all that he has received in his life. Young men that engage in our program leave here with a deeper respect for authority, self-discipline, and a new work ethic that will help them be successful in holding down a job or going to college.
